How to Unwind at the End of the Day?

How often do you come back home after work and physically are there but you’re still thinking about work? Well, if you’re like most people, this happens all the time. For me it’s devastating… Not only I can’t fully enjoy my personal time after work but I also don’t have a proper rest and therefore struggle to keep myself full of energy, motivation, and new ideas. So I decided to try out different activities and find the best ways to unwind at the end of the day.

Have a Walk (With a Podcast)

For me personally, one of the best ways to put everything in place is to go home by foot and listen to a podcast. That half an hour turns into a gap where I make myself do something completely different from what I’ve been doing at work. Also, by listening to a podcast (it must be an interesting one!) I stop myself from thinking about work. Then, once I come back home, my mind doesn’t even try to come back to thoughts about work and I’m ready to do anything I want and enjoy it to the fullest. Oh, and if you don’t have this opportunity to go to work and back home by foot then I suggest you take a walk once you come home.

Read a Book or a Blog

Another great way to unwind at the end of the day is to read. Just like a podcast, it also helps to keep your thoughts away from work. Besides, for me to unwind, I must find an interesting read whether it would be a book or a blog. When I enjoy the reading, I feel well rested and charge myself with new ideas and motivation.

Self-Care Time

Also, at least once a week, at the end of the day, I unwind by taking some self-care time. I can do a face mask, manicure, dry brushing, or taking a bath. No matter which one I choose, it always helps me to keep the balance of life and take care of myself. Besides, I prefer not to have self-care time too often because then it would become routine and won’t be as pleasant and calming as it is now.

Find a Hobby

One of my favorite way to unwind at the end of the day is to write this blog and to run my side-hustle. These are my hobbies, writing about everyday charms and making bow ties. They are my best treats and always help me to have a rest but also to express myself and do what I love most. Therefore, I suggest you find a hobby or a few as well. To unwind is all about enjoying what you do and hobby is a great way to do so.

Watch a Movie (Sometimes)

Well, even though I don’t have TV and try to avoid wasting my time watching it, I still think that it’s good to watch movies sometimes. On those days when I don’t feel like doing anything and just want to lay in bed with a cup of tea, I choose to watch a movie.

If you wonder why the heck I don’t watch movies often, the answer is very simple – it takes too much time. I need to unwind so that I could work on my side hustles. Therefore, half an hour is a reasonable time to have a rest and then start working on my dreams coming true.

DO NOT Go to Bed Too Early

Yup, this is my last insight and tip for you. Do not give up to this temptation to go bed too early. Of course, you can do from time to time, when you feel like you hadn’t had enough sleep. But the reason I mentioned this is that you might fall into the trap of sleep-work-sleep-work. If you’ll go to bed right after having dinner and choose more than 9 hours of sleep every day… Well, you won’t unwind, you’ll just see nothing besides work when you’re not sleeping and this won’t do any good to you. If you want to have a rest but also enjoy your life, better choose to do something else after work but not sleep.

We usually work all day but, at the end of the day, it’s time to unwind and to enjoy our personal time. If you want to be full of energy, inspiration and drive to do your best in life, you must take some time to unwind and have a rest. Then the balance will be kept and you’ll feel great.
