Redefining Success

Lately, I noticed how differently we understand the word “success”. What is a success for some people, might be a complete misfortune for others. I believe that what was called success a while ago isn’t it anymore, that’s why it’s time to redefine what success truly is.

First Thoughts

What are the first thoughts that come to your mind when you hear a word “success”? In most occasions, those first thoughts are very materialistic, like a well-paid job, new car, fancy home, and luxurious lifestyle. But is it truly a success to have some or even all of these things? Aren’t there more important things in life? What about the self-esteem, finding your own purpose in life, having wonderful people around who love you, and accepting the life the way it is? Gladly, there are more and more people who associate success with immaterial factors but there still are many people who see it only from a material perspective.

Deepest Wishes

I truly believe that success is closely connected with our deepest wishes. We all have our own dreams and aspirations and all of them are different. Some people wish to travel the world, others want to leave the world better than it was, and others might want to have a happy family full of love. We all wish for different things and because of that, our own success is different from others’ success. Besides, every wish is made of many small details. We make our dreams come true by taking those small steps forward our dream life. That’s why I believe that success is making our own personal dreams come true.

New Definition of Success

I want you to know that you’re the only one who can say whether you’re successful or not. Only you know your deepest wishes and your own efforts to make them real. Also, in my opinion, success is not only when you achieve these goals but also the whole journey towards them. All those small steps towards your deepest wish also make you successful! Because of that, I believe we need to call it a success when you start taking those steps and begin working on your dreams.

Material things aren’t the most important ones in our lives, immaterial things like our own opinion about us and relationships with our closest people are much more important. So if you ever again will think that you’re not successful, remember this – success is making your deepest wishes come true. If you’re working on your dreams – you’re successful. That’s it.
