A couple of days ago I finished reading the Little Women book by Louisa May Alcott.
It was four evenings full of joy, tears, thrill and laugh. I loved the book and enjoyed every moment reading it.
Actually, I can’t believe I’ve never read it before because we had it for ages since I was a child. And a few months ago, when I couldn’t find an interesting book to read, I just brought two bags of various books from my parents library that I haven’t read yet.
Well, and one evening, the Little Women got my attention and I gave it a try.
I was amazed by it!
Such a pure joy and love, lessons we all need to learn, and an escape to the charming past…
I even told my boyfriend, that every girl, especially the one that has a sister, must read it. And though I’m not so young anymore (the book is listed in teens section so based on it’s readers, I’m a bit elder) I found the book very interesting and was reminded about what actually matters in life.
So no doubt, the book is amazing.
Well, and the weekend came. And weekend nights somehow got equal to movie nights, and I remembered, that there’s a movie based on the Little women book. Okay, even two movies. So I thought it would be interesting to see one of them.
Also, I remembered, that when the newest movie was shown in cinemas, I read quite a few opinions that the new movie was nonsence and the old one is much better.
But, given the fact that I love Emma Watson and Saoirse Ronan I thought the new movie can’t be that bad and these two women will make me love it no matter how everything else goes.
And that’s where I was wrong. After the first five minutes, I was like “wtf is going on?”.
I waited until the very last moment for the movie to get better but it didn’t.
How the book was one of the best ones I’ve read this year, this movie was one of the worst I’ve ever seen…
Maybe, just maybe, if I haven’t read the book, the movie would have been amazing. But sadly, I read the book.
However, all in all, I had four wonderful evenings, reading as long as I could before falling asleep, and the movie lasted a little bit longer than two hours.
So, my friend, if you’ll ever be in situation like this, where you’ll be able to watch this movie and to read the book – don’t do those close to each other. I wish I’ve read this book some time ago and only then saw the movie. But if I’d be choosing of whether to read the book or watch the movie, I’d definitely choose the book.
