Educated by Tara Westover review

When the book Educated by tara Westover was translated into my native language, it soon became very popular. I was curious to read it too and see what’s all the hype is about.

However, I do not buy books that I never read. Unless they’re educational. Since this book wasn’t like that, I decided to wait for it in the library. I filled a form to book it and forgot about it. But what I do remember is that I was around 80th in the waiting line if not further, and I ordered it on a lunch break at my previous job. That must have been over a year ago.

A couple of days ago, I got an email from the library stating that now it’s my turn to get this book.

This was four days ago. I read it whenever I could. And from very first pages it was clear to me what all the hype was about.

I’m not going to spoil the plot. But I must admit that this book was eye opening.

Little did I know about the mormonism.

I remember when in London I used to see ads of The Book of Mormon musical and heard using the word Mormon as an insult in movies, but that was it. I never truly understood what that actually stands for.

After reading this book, I feel educated too because now I know a lot more about this religion as well as about the people living way different life than mine. It’s difficult to imagine how fucked up people can be and how strongly they can influence others.

With this book, I had a glimpse into one person’s life and even though it wasn’t simple, it was a very interesting one.

Besides, this story is told in a very easy to read way which, together with a good story, is a great combination.

So if you still haven’t read this book get it from your local library or bookstore and enjoy.
